The Career & Job services Centers at Long Beach City College welcome the opportunity to assist you with meeting your teaching needs. It is our commitment to provide LBCC students with the necessary support services to assist them in achieving their educational and career goals. We offer career counseling, career assessments, various workshops, and interview and resume preparation. With your help, our students can achieve their goals of career development, employment and self-sufficiency. We appreciate your support in helping us develop our students for the future. Classroom Presentations:
We can tailor a workshop around a specific topic to meet your students' needs or we can offer a general orientation as to what services the Career & Job Services Center has to offer. Please contact the center to schedule a classroom presentation.

Career & Job Service Center Orientations
We invite you to bring your classroom for an orientation of the Career Center. Classroom visits may also include workshops designed around a specific topic or access to resources and reference materials for career exploration exercises.

Extra Credit Opportunities:
Give your students a meaningful extra credit opportunity by referring them to our center for career counseling and assessment, independent career exploration exercises, or participation in a career center sponsored event.

 Career Counseling Courses

Counseling 7 - College and Professional Success (3 units)
Students will compare and analyze student development theories for the purpose of defining internal and external obstacles to career and academic success. Throughout the course, students will practice, apply and evaluate integrative exercises related to academic achievement, self-exploration, career development and professional development and growth.

Counseling 48 - Career Exploration (1 unit)
This course is for students who are not sure of their educational and/or career goals. The exploration process involves an introduction to career decision making mode which includes personal assessment, self-understanding, career and labor market research, integration of information, and goal setting. The course emphasizes one's self-description as it impacts career choices.

Counseling 50 - Career Planning: Life-Long Process (3 units)
This course presents a reflective model of decision-making that integrates theory and practice, and is applicable in a variety of situations over an individual's lifespan. Through the study of career decision-making, students explore the impact of psycho-social, physical, and affective factors on their own cognitive process. Through self-discovery, students develop life-long learning skills that focus on achieving success by utilizing an educatio/career plan.
